Building a Digital Experience to Tell a New Story About Geothermal Energy

Rodatherm is developing a new approach to geothermal energy designed to generate clean, reliable power without relying on water. As the company prepared for its next stage of growth, its existing site no longer reflected the maturity of the business or clearly communicated what made its technology different.
Working alongside Rodatherm and their marketing partner, Wizardly redesigned the site around a more complete story of the company, its technology, and its potential.
As Design Lead, I helped develop the creative direction before taking ownership of the design across the six-page site, working directly with the client and marketing team through design and development.
Creative Direction + Web DesignDeveloping the visual direction and leading the six-page website design to better communicate Rodatherm’s technology and value
Rodatherm came to us with a site that was relatively limited in both content and visual storytelling. With a unique approach to geothermal energy, the new site needed to do more than refresh the brand online. It needed to give the company more room to explain its technology, communicate its value, and tell a more complete story.
I worked closely with our Creative Director during the creative direction phase, contributing heavily to the concepts we ultimately presented to the client. While she introduced the illustration style that became an important part of the direction, I explored how that language could come together as a digital experience, developing the UI, imagery, components, layouts, and overall homepage concepts.

Leading Design to Launch
Once the creative direction was approved, I took over as the sole designer and Design Lead across the six-page site.
I worked directly with Rodatherm and their marketing partner to translate the new content into individual page experiences, thinking through what each page needed to communicate, how information should flow, and where visual storytelling could help make more technical ideas easier to understand.
I worked directly with the developer through handoff and QA, reviewing the implementation and collaborating on the interactive pieces of the site to make sure the final experience carried through the intent of the designs.

Interaction & MotionTurning a five-step geothermal process into an interactive, animated experience that shows how the technology works and why it matters
The starting technical illustration had been created by our Creative Director using Weave. To turn that static asset into something that could help explain the process, I reworked it into a series of visual states, identifying what needed to be highlighted at each step and creating the animations in Jitter.
I also designed the interaction to extend beyond the five-step process. Rather than separating the benefits into another section, I brought them into the experience as the final tab. The layout expands to accommodate the additional content, while a stronger visual treatment signals the shift from how the technology works to why it matters.
I then worked directly with development to translate the scroll behavior, animated states, and changing layouts into the final site.
